HESA are seeking the views of Higher Education providers and other stakeholders on proposed changes to data about knowledge exchange and the interaction of higher education with the wider economy.
Proposed changes to the Higher Education - Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey data include enhanced data regarding the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP). The would include a proposed additional data collection during 2024 to gather data on historic spin-outs. This would provide a robust evidence base for stakeholders seeking information about these firms for policy and funding purposes.
Other changes relate to improvements in the clarity of instructions for data collection, and explicit recognition that the data collection relates to Knowledge Exchange.
The consultation opens today, Thursday 4 April 2024, and closes on Thursday 16 May 2024 with HESA seeking official whole-organisation views on the proposals.
