A university student union has apologised for displaying Confederate flags, which are associated with slavery, at its summer ball.
Three of the controversial flags were used as decorations for the ‘Wild West’ themed ball at Harper Adams University in Shropshire on Saturday 25 June.
One student, who asked not to be named, told i: “Understandably, some students are concerned at the prominent display of a flag used by a historical state that was founded on the notion of treating people of colour as property.
