First-year students will be targeted with government adverts warning them about the risk of being spiked with needles in nightclubs.

Reports of needle-spiking peaked last autumn as students began returning to universities for the first time since the pandemic.

In a letter to the Commons home affairs committee published today, the Home Office said it was working on a campaign at the start of the new academic year to urge students to take extra care on nights out.
