Rishi Sunak is prepared to overrule SNP ministers and university principals in Scotland to force the closure of Chinese teaching institutions that have been described as an extension of the Beijing government.
The former chancellor has pledged to close all 30 Confucius Institutes in the UK, including the five in Scotland.
