Liz Truss has begun formal dispute proceedings against the EU after British scientists were excluded from the bloc’s multibillion-pound research programme.
The foreign secretary accused Brussels of a “clear breach” of the trade agreement signed between the two sides in 2020. It is the first time that the UK has triggered the mechanism to resolve disputes stemming from the trade agreement.
