The first national drugs campaign across Britain’s universities is to be launched amid growing concerns over the use of illicit substances on campus.

Universities UK (UUK), the umbrella group for vice-chancellors, is developing a new plan to tackle the issue of students using cocaine as well as other substances including date rape drugs and so-called “smart drugs” that enhance academic performance.

Instead, the vice-chancellor in charge of the new strategy wants universities to reduce demand as well as tackling supply.
