Hundreds of immigrants will enjoy a state-funded university education after the courts decided that Scottish ministers had discriminated against an Iraqi-born student when they refused to pay her fees.
Ola Jasim, 20, missed the eligibility criteria for funded tuition by 58 days and is now struggling to pay the fees for the medicine degree she started in October 2020.
