For a swan a drainpipe at St John’s College, Cambridge, is perhaps the worst place in the country to get stuck.
Apart from the King, members of the 511-year-old college are said to be the only people in the country allowed to dine on the bird.
However, when a trapped cygnet became lodged in a narrow pipe, students working in the library mercifully chose not to exercise their royal-given rights and called the fire brigade and RSPCA instead.
