Insisting on free speech at all times is like demanding the right to eat smelly food in a lift, according to a higher education policy adviser.
The Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Bill, which is going through the House of Lords, threatens to unbalance the way universities handle competing demands such as complying with laws about extremism and hate speech, Andrew Boggs said.
