Chronic underfunding of Scottish universities is a major risk to the economy and leaves institutions north of the border lagging behind their English counterparts, one of the country’s leading businessmen has warned.
Sir Ian Wood, who is best known for his work in the North Sea and international oil industry with Wood Group, said that skilled graduates were essential to making sure highly skilled jobs could be filled by homegrown talent.
