Tens of thousands of staff at 150 universities across the UK are expected to walk out on Wednesday as part of a series of strikes.
The action is being taken over pay, working conditions and pension cuts.
Staff are walking out on 30 November for the last of three days of strike action taken this month.
Industrial action short of a strike is also underway, which includes not covering for absent colleagues, refusing to make up for work lost to strike action and working to rule.
Academic staff and those in other professional roles including administrators, librarians and technicians are taking part.
