Vegan activists at the University of Stirling faced targeted personal abuse at their homes after the campuses committed to plant-based catering within the next five years.

The university’s student union became the first in the UK to commit to transitioning to 100 per cent plant-based food when the motion was passed on November 14.

However, agricultural associations branded the move “bonkers” and claimed students had been “brainwashed by biased media”.
