UCU general secretary Jo Grady has welcomed progress in higher education pay negotiations but says the improved offer tabled by UCEA is 'not enough'.
The tiered offer for 2023/24, received late last night from vice chancellor body UCEA, delivers an uplift of between 4-5%, with some lower salaried roles receiving more (full details below). UCEA says part of the uplift would be brought forward and paid in February, with the rest from August.
UCEA is also yet to provide an offer for 2022/23, a pay round that the unions have said they do not accept is closed.
The offer submitted and later imposed for 2022/23 was an uplift of 3%. And whilst UCU general secretary Jo Grady describes the offer for 2023/24 as 'not enough', says the improvement in the offer is a result of the recent strike action taken.
