Officials at Edinburgh University have been accused of deliberately obstructing plans to reschedule a screening of a women’s rights documentary after trans activists forced an earlier showing to be abandoned.
Adult Human Female, which is billed as a critique of “trans ideology” and “a defence of women’s rights”, was first due to be shown on December 14 last year but was cancelled when demonstrators occupied university buildings.
The activists said the film, which premiered in London last month, was transphobic because it includes the assertion that “trans women are men”.
Shereen Benjamin, who organised the screening on behalf of Edinburgh Academics for Academic Freedom (EAFAF), said at the time she was disappointed the university had not been able to provide a safe space.
