Talks are to take place between unions, councils and the Scottish government over calls for a 10% pay rise for Scottish teachers.
Teachers are among a number of public sector workers seeking rises to cover the increasing cost of living.
Last week, the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association, claimed some teachers were using food banks to help make ends meet.
Employers have still to give a formal response to the demands.
Teachers' pay is negotiated at the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SCNT) which brings together unions, the Scottish government and councils.
