A group of leading girls' schools has said it will only invest in companies with senior female leaders as it takes a stand against male dominance in the City.

The Girls' School Association (GSA) has appointed advisers to switch its investments into companies which create opportunities for women.

Donna Stevens, chief executive of the GSA, said: “With more fund managers historically called Dave than there are female fund managers, GSA is as determined as ever to continue pushing for change in the world through its life-changing schools and inspiring headteachers.”

She added: “I’m proud to lead a change in the education sector’s approach that places the importance of an equitable society at its heart. GSA leads the charge and urges other companies and organisations to join with us in re-imagining a better future for our young people through the way they fund themselves.”
