Members of NASUWT-The Teachers’ Union at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Rhuthin, Denbighshire will be taking the first of three planned days of strike action tomorrow (Tuesday) over adverse management practices which are affecting teachers’ workload, working conditions and wellbeing.
Members at the school are taking action as a result of the failure of the local authority and school governors to act to address serious workload issues.
These include an excessive marking and assessment policy that the Union has sought to reasonably amend, but with little result.
Dr Patrick Roach, General Secretary of the NASUWT, said:
“At a time when it is widely accepted that the workload of teachers is unacceptable we are seeing at Ysgol Brynhyfryd an attitude of denial.
