NASUWT compensation figures 2022

The NASUWT-The Teachers’ Union secured compensation of £15,140,841.07 for members during 2022.

The compensation was awarded for successful claims relating to unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination, bullying, contractual disputes, health and safety and personal injury.

The figures are being released on the eve of the NASUWT’s Annual Conference, which is being held over the Easter weekend in Glasgow.

A member who suffered life changing injuries after being viciously assaulted by a pupil in her classroom was awarded £350,000 in compensation.

The member, who taught in the East of England, was left with a brain injury, loss of sight and hearing in her left eye and ear, bleeding kidneys, a damaged bladder and psychological injuries as a result of the assault.
