Amid the soaring cost of living crisis teachers are today demanding a range of measures to support them as they secure educational recovery for children and young people.
At the STUC Congress in Dundee, NASUWT-The Teachers’ Union will move a motion seeking a better deal for teachers.
The motion praises workers taking industrial action to defend their pay and conditions of service and calls on the Scottish Government to “develop fiscal and recovery strategies which place fair work at the heart of Scotland’s workplaces and economy”.
Dr Patrick Roach, NASUWT General Secretary, said: “Teachers have endured more than a decade of cuts to their pay alongside rising levels of workload and worsening working conditions which still need to be addressed.
