Teachers are experts in teaching, but how can we improve their expertise in learning?
If teachers can learn how to support the superhighways of the brain, increasing speed and efficacy of passing signals, they can support students with an important role in the formation of long-term memories.
Here, I define learning as an anatomical process, not developing knowledge per see, and whilst I accept this information might not be the first thing teachers want to know, I believe that if I were taught this in my early years as a teacher, I wouldn’t have had to spend the first 15 years of my career learning how to be more effective!
For the last 15 years, I’ve been playing catch-up!
If you are a teacher reading this and want to be more efficient and effective, save yourself some time and align all professional development towards pedagogy and neuroeducation.
