Fancy indulging your inner activist? Want to bolster your cultural street-cred by endorsing the aesthetics of resistance? If so, an excursion to Tate Modern is a must.
Visiting it at the weekend, I was invited into an area entitled (somewhat bafflingly) “Empower Holiday Make Studio”. There I was exhorted: “Create a giant banner for a cause you love! Unleash your inner rebel! Be inspired by rule-bending artists from Tate’s collection — Richard Bell, Black Audio Film Collective to Siah Armajani — and help us make a giant activist banner, representing all the causes we care about.”
