Teachers claim they “do not feel safe” in Scottish classrooms as reports of violent behaviour increase. In one primary school, a pupil was said to have threatened children with an improvised weapon.
One primary teacher, who did not wish to be named, said that they fear a staff member or child will be seriously hurt. They said: “I do not feel safe at work. I do not feel safe at school. If I am feeling it as a member of staff what are the children feeling?
The teacher said they were physically assaulted by a child last month and pupils swore at them daily.
