What does the emerging academic research suggest on using ChatGPT in the classroom?
Artificial intelligence is all around us, and in terms of understanding what it is and how it can be used in the classroom, it’s still relatively early day days for teachers.
When I last wrote about ChatGPT in April 2023, at the time of writing, there were approximately 8,000 academic references on Google Scholar. Just two months later, there are now almost 30,000!
Searching across the field of education, there were ~3,400 articles on “ChatGPT in education” and 503 references to its use/research in England, and today, 12,600 articles and 1,080, respectively, across England.
Undoubtedly, this is a growing field, and it will be very hard for us all to keep up.
