A deputy head teacher with an “unblemished” record was forced to resign after a ten-year-old boy gave himself “two tiny blisters” using a glue gun in an art class.
Colleagues described Sarah Mead as an “outstanding” teacher who “gave all” to her role as a deputy head teacher at Meridian Angel primary school in Enfield, north London.
In May last year one of her Year 6 pupils suffered a small burn to his hand while working on a project with a glue gun. His mother wrote to The Sun claiming he was left in “serious pain” and she was “livid”.
Staff in an accident and emergency department who assessed the boy said in their clinical notes the burn was “superficial”, consisting of “two tiny blisters”.
