The pay rise awarded to teachers in Wales that ended strike action earlier this year will not be paid into this month's salary as promised. The National Education Union Cymru said it was "extremely frustrated" that the Welsh Government had not done all the paperwork on time to get the money into teachers' pockets in September.
NEU Cymru Wales secretary David Evans said he has raised the matter with Education Minister Jeremy Miles who has promised the money will be in October's pay packets. He said he had been told it was "a legal issue" and believed it was a genuine administrative error.
"It is frustrating because the agreement to resolve the pay dispute was reached last March. That included the award for September and they have had about six months to do this.
Mr Evans added: "We have made sure members are aware of the position. It is disappointing that people were anticipating having the money this month but there has been a slip up along the way. I don't think it is anything underhand. I think there has been a genuine slip up."
