Families can get £200 towards paying for school essentials like uniform, shoes, bags, stationery, sports kit and equipment. More than 100,000 children have been helped by the School Essentials Grant, but some could be missing out and the Welsh Government wants to remind people the grant exists.
Low-income families can get up to £200 from the grant fund to help with school essentials. Families on lower incomes and who receive certain benefits can claim £125 per child per year to help with school costs. Because of the extra cost families might face when their children start secondary school, the grant is £200 for pupils going into year seven, the first year of high school.
