Experts in science and technology are teaming up with head teachers and examiners across the country in an effort to police and manage the use of artificial intelligence in schools. AI in Education is a not-for-profit, independent body that aims to mitigate the risks that AI brings to education, such as “cheating, infantilisation and abuse”. It will combine the brainpower of some of the country’s leading scientists, such as Lord Rees of Ludlow, the astronomer royal, and AI specialists from Google, the University of Cambridge and the Alan Turing Institute.
