Students who have been forced to learn in pandemic-style remote classes for two months due to the RAAC in their schools have been told this won't be taken into consideration when their exams are graded.

When 174 schools were told they had to delay opening over fears of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC), 24 schools turned to remote or hybrid learning, similar to what was used in the pandemic. They were told this disrupted learning style would last 'days not weeks' by the Department for Education - this was at the beginning of September.

Almost two months later, students in at least 12 secondary and sixth form schools are still either remote or are learning on a hybrid basis, with a rota in place that prioritises certain year groups.

Parents, teachers and pupils say they are worried this disrupted learning environment will affect grades come exam season - impacting the chances of students hoping to attend university next year.
