Former Education Secretary Damian Hinds has been appointed as minister of state at the Department for Education following Nick Gibbs’ resignation.
Hinds, MP for East Hampshire since May 2010, served as Secretary of State for Education between January 2018 and July 2019 before being replaced by Gavin Williamson when Boris Johnson became Prime Minister.
Hinds has been working as prisons minister since October 2022.
He previously served as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury from 2015, until he was made employment minister at the Department for Work and Pensions by Theresa May in 2016.
