More than 1,000 Scottish schools lack defibrillators despite all English schools being equipped with the lifesaving device.
The UK government committed to installing the machine at every state-funded primary and secondary in England by the end of the last academic term.
The Scottish Conservatives are calling on local authorities north of the border, who are responsible for schools, to do the same, as they blamed the ruling SNP government for not pushing the issue.
The figures on defibrillators in schools were published by the Scottish Tories after freedom of information requests to local authorities. The party said that the shortfall in use of the technology could be even higher because six of Scotland’s 32 councils did not provide data.
