After the Covid pandemic forced schools to close their doors, shifting lessons online as pupils logged onto Zoom calls from home, many parents have decided not tp send their children back to traditional classrooms.
There are many reasons why parents choose not to put their children into mainstream schools - ranging from concerns over bullying to a perceived lack of support.
Recent figures from the Department for Education show that as many as 86,000 children were taught from home in a single day in the UK in 2023. This is around 50 per cent more than the estimated 55,000 in 2018/19.
But more and more parents are removing their children from school for different reasons - including choosing to live on a boat or fulfil a budding sports career.
