One of the country’s most prestigious schools is at the centre of a police investigation into historical sexual and physical abuse.
Last year the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry concluded that former pupils at Loretto School in East Lothian had been subjected to violence, molestation and cruelty for decades.
Police Scotland is investigating claims that former staff members at the Musselburgh school, which has annual boarding fees of up to £37,000, preyed on vulnerable pupils.
Detectives are understood to be looking into dozens of allegations of sexual and physical assaults in the junior and senior schools over four decades up to 2018.
