In 2019, the Department for Education published the Initial Teacher Training Core Content and Early Career Framework, which created a shared body of knowledge and skills, underpinned by research evidence. They established an entitlement for trainee and early career teachers to receive training and development to support them in the earliest years in the profession and aim to provide a common understanding of effective practice.
Following a commitment to reviewing the frameworks and a public call for evidence, today the DfE has published an update, amalgamating them into one overarching framework.
As with other national professional development qualifications, we have independently reviewed and assessed the evidence underpinning the framework, including making sure that statements accurately reflect the evidence from which they are drawn.
