Children in care have missed at least 1.3 million days at school since Nicola Sturgeon pledged to make their lives her priority four years ago.
The figure comes from a report card by the charity Who Cares? on the former first minister’s policy, known as the Promise.
The figure comes from data provided by only 22 out of Scotland’s 32 councils. The real number will be higher, says the charity.
