Files from a prominent independent school at the centre of abuse allegations were destroyed in a fire shortly before it closed, hindering efforts by former pupils to gain justice, it has emerged.
Aberlour House, Moray, which had close connections to Gordonstoun, where three generations of British royalty were educated, faces claims that pupils were raped, drugged, sexually assaulted and ordered to swim naked in the 1970s and 1980s.
