Monday was the hottest day of the year so far in Wales, while in England temperatures fell just short of the mark.
A high of 28.7C was recorded in Cardiff’s Bute Park, and it reached 32C in Northolt, west London – just shy of the 32.7C registered at Santon Downham, a village in Suffolk, on 17 June.
Temperatures for the rest of the week are expected to be in the high 20s or low 30s, and they are likely to exceed 35C in south-east England on Sunday.
Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “Parts of south-east England could exceed 35C on Sunday.
