New guidance on nationwide school uniform policy could see some parents save hundreds when buying essential clothing for their children to return to school in September. The move will be a relief to many families struggling with the current cost of living crisis.
The rule shake-up is due to take effect from the first term of the 2022/2023 academic year and will see schools forced to keep expensive branded uniform items to a minimum, while encouraging parents to get their uniform essentials from cheaper supermarket alternatives, or to set up their own second-hand clothing collectives. Rules around competition and finding the best value for money supplier were also introduced to ensure that every school is driving down the cost for parents.
