Winchester College, whose motto is Manners Makyth Man, has appointed its first female headteacher.
The public school, which will admit girls for the first time this September, will be led by Elizabeth Stone from autumn next year. She is currently the head of a private girls’ school in Australia and will replace Dr Tim Hands, who is retiring.
