Teachers are suffering “death by spreadsheet” due to overbearing demands from politicians to record their progress, a committee has been told.
The Holyrood education committee has published a “damning” report on progress improving education among the poor. MSPs condemned Shirley-Anne Somerville, the education secretary, for presenting “confusing” evidence, while her officials were called “unconvincing”.
