Thousands of pupils will be kept at home next week as schools are forced to close after trade unions urged their members to reject a last-ditch pay offer.
Council leaders have tabled a deal that would give workers a minimum wage increase of at least £2,000 for next year in an attempt to halt planned industrial action across many schools.
