Schools that provide children with one-to-one mental health counsellors save the taxpayer millions of pounds, a report suggests.
An analysis of the Place2Be school counselling service found it generates up to £36million in benefits each year.
It comes after the Standard highlighted the importance of school counsellors in our Young London SOS campaign.
This raised £240,000 for Place2Be and new counsellors were installed in ten London schools.
The research from Pro Bono Economics found Place2Be’s one-to-one counselling generates £8 in benefits for every £1 spent.
