A former inner-city teacher who moved to one of Britain’s most affluent towns is fighting back against county lines gangs who target middle-class children with a police-funded film starring his pupils.
Brad Day says children, including those from well-off and stable families, are being “psychologically rewired” by gangmasters and that the county lines drugs trade is a form of modern slavery.
The commissioner of the police force that is backing the film says gangs are targeting bright children in wealthy areas and using coercive control or blackmailing them with intimate pictures. They made the film to educate parents and tackle what they describe as the mistaken belief that only vulnerable children from troubled backgrounds are at risk.
