Nearly three-quarters of girls and young women surveyed by youth charity Girlguiding have experienced discrimination based around their gender, sexuality, race or disabilities in the past year.
Of the 3,015 seven- to 21-year-olds who took part in the Girlguiding’s Girls’ Attitudes survey 2022, 71 per cent reported having experienced discrimination, rising to 87 per cent for LGBTQ+ girls, 88 per cent of those with a disability and 87 per cent of those from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Whilst most seven- to 16-year-olds answered the survey in school, an online panel was used to capture the views of older groups, and young women who are not in education, employment or training.
