A Scottish council renowned for its outstanding schools is debating “very serious” educational cuts as it faces a funding shortfall of £30 million in the next three years.
In a seven-page document East Renfrewshire council, which is home to five secondary schools ranked among the best 20 in The Times Scotland’s school league table, described possible savings.
One suggestion was to reduce the school week for 24 of its primary schools, which could mean as many as 550 job losses.
