Cutting spending on education would be 'indefensible' at a time when schools are still trying to 'rectify the damage' caused by the pandemic, dozens of Tory MPs have warned Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
It comes as 'eye-watering' public spending cuts are expected to be announced in his Autumn statement this week to fill a £60billion black hole in the economy.
Mr Hunt has warned he will take 'horrible' decisions this week, and branded himself as a 'Scrooge' trying to save family Christmases.
