Parents face more school closures as teacher strikes threaten to spill over to neighbouring councils where no industrial action is planned.
The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) has announced 16 days of strikes with two councils at a time taking part beginning with Glasgow and East Lothian on January 16.
The action could see schools closed in neighbouring councils without official notice, as teachers who commute across boundaries may be forced to stay at home to watch their children.
