The public overwhelmingly support teachers going on strike over pay, a poll for The Times has found.
Teachers have the support of 60 per cent of the public, including 27 per cent who strongly support their strike in pursuit of a 10 per cent pay rise.
Only 30 per cent oppose the strikes, including 12 per cent who strongly oppose them, according to the YouGov poll of 1,090 voters aged over 16 commissioned by The Times.
Andrea Bradley, general secretary of the Educational Institute of Scotland, said teachers reported “very strong levels of support from parents, carers and the wider community” during the first national strike last month.
