Single-sex girls’ schools in England will not be able to refuse entry to biological males under Scotland’s gender recognition laws, according to a think tank report.
Female-only changing rooms, hospital wards, lavatories and social associations will also have to admit biological men or risk breaching the UK Equality Act, the Policy Exchange says.
This reinforces warnings that “violent males” could use the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill to abuse the process of acquiring a gender recognition certificate and the rights associated with it, the report argues.
The think tank believes the UK government would be acting “lawfully and constitutionally” if it were to invoke Section 35 of the Scotland Act to block the legislation as it affects the working of the UK Equality Act.
