A union leader says teachers in Scotland do the equivalent of an extra day’s “unpaid” work each week as it emerged that more talks to try to end rolling strikes were expected in the next few days.
Teachers are targeting two councils a day for the next 16 days; they started with Glasgow and East Lothian yesterday and will continue with Perth and Kinross and North Ayrshire today.
The government has offered a 5 per cent rise to most teachers but unions want 10 per cent for all — including heads who earn almost £100,000 a year.
