Throughout February and March, the National Education Union (NEU) has organised a series of strikes by teachers across England and Wales, with thousands of schools closing their doors. On the first day of action on Wednesday 1 February more than half of schools in England either completely shut or restricted attendance.
Educators are walking out over an ongoing pay dispute with the Government as well as to highlight the ongoing “recruitment and retention crisis” among teachers, say union leaders.
